Groundhog Day Response

Groundhog Day
Read and respond in the comment section underneath the poem to either #1 and #2 or 3 of the three following questions:
1) What is this poem about?
2) Why does Rita quote from it?
3) Make three explicit links between the film Groundhog Day and Aristotle's virtue ethics.

If you are one of the first ten to respond then that is all you must do. If however, you are not one of the first ten, you must make reference to the ideas of two other students that you agree with/disagree (explaining why fully).

Make sure that you leave your full name (first, last, and period #) in the comment section.

Sir Walter Scott

Breathes there the man with soul so dead
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne'er within him burned,
As home his footsteps he hath turned
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonored , and unsung.

Are youth today less or more ethical then youth 30 years ago?

Are youth today less ethical then youth when your parents and/or grandparents were kids? Watch the following YOUTUBE clip that is a two minute discussion by Cognitive Psychologist Howard Gardner.

For this blogpost write up a 150-200 word response to Gardner's primary arguments and post it in the comment section of this post. Make sure you EDIT your writing so there are no typos. Support your view with sound argument. MAKE SURE YOU END YOUR POST BY LEAVING YOUR FULL NAME AND THE PERIOD OF ETHICS YOU ARE IN. Lastly, if you are not one of the first ten students to post, you must respond to two other students' arguments who went before you (2-3 extra sentences commenting on each student you chose to respond to).

Respond to the following questions:

In your opinion is Gardner correct on the following two arguments: 1) Do most youth consider ethics a "bonus for later in life," an option to be followed only after a person has achieved greatness/riches? and 2) Students believe that "Everyone else is cutting corners/no one else is playing by the rules, so why should we."?
